Gravity Active Entertainment is a leisure brand with venues across the UK specialising in thrilling and fun activities for everyone to enjoy. Their activities include fun experiences such as Trampoline Parks, Rock Climbing, Aerial Adventures and E-Karts, all of which can (or will soon) be found at the Gravity venue in Castleford. The location we visited is based inside the Xscape centre and can be easily found by car, and includes ample free parking.
The attractions are split across the Xscape Yorkshire building, which hosts many other venues. Costs of the experiences vary with some packages also available. Each activity has a different check in point close by to allow you to get your tickets or wristbands to take part.
For more information on costs and the finer details, we advise you to head to the website.
Aerial Adventures
This activity is split into 3 separate experiences, the Sky Coaster, Leap of Faith and Free Fall Drop. You start each of the activities by being briefed by a staff member on what to expect and fitted with a safety harness before being sent on your way up the starting tower to get further instructions.
The Sky Coaster is a unique zip wire attraction, it may look small but it certainly packs an oddly thrilling and scary sensation. With the harness connected up to the zip wire you’re given two ropes to hold onto, to keep your body upright. The experience picks up speed in places and really swings and throws you around on the corners. We’re so glad we were able to try this, and we recommend checking out our Tik Tok video below to see exactly what we mean!
The Leap of Faith and Free Fall Drop are two similar experiences with you inevitably dropping down towards the ground below. The Leap of Faith involves an inflatable punchbag suspended from the ceiling with the challenge of jumping to grab onto it, before releasing (or in our case missing) and slowly descending. The Free Fall drop has nothing in front of you, but with a slight bungee cord you get a brief exhilarating moment of free fall.
Gravity Trampolines
Gravity Trampolines is a fun hour experience mainly targeted towards the family demographic. The experience starts by checking in and signing a waiver like all experiences, which once done gets you a coloured wristband for your slot. Don’t forget you’ll need some special grippy socks (£3 per pair)! You can then put any items in some free lockers before doing a short 2 minute warmup and quick safety briefing.
Inside the trampoline park, you have many smaller trampolines which you can bounce to your hearts content. There was also an inflatable obstacle course and basket ball hoops to keep it interesting. Whilst not the largest trampoline park, it hosts plenty to keep you occupied for an hour slot and if you are adults like us, enough to make you out of breath in 10 minutes!
We really love the basket ball hoops as that was a lot of fun. With pumping chart music playing and it not being too busy, it does make for a fun time at Gravity Trampoline. The simple nature of the activity is perfect for the family market and for us to get back to one was great.
Gravity Rocks
Gravity Rocks is a series of fun & quirky rock climbing walls with every wall being different to the next. This experience lasts 30 minutes and before you are let loose into the climbing zone, you need to get harnessed up and watch a safety / instruction video. The design of Gravity Rocks allows you to self manage each wall, with the harness working in such a way that is safe to attach and climb straight away without assistance.
There are plenty of walls available and the slots aren’t too busy, so you can usually find several walls free to climb. Some of our favourites were the speed wall, the see through duel climbing wall and the light up pipe wall. They also had a ladder climb and a pole climbing station which were slightly different to the walls.
We loved this activity and whilst you may think 30 minutes isn’t enough, let us tell you it is plenty! You get so much done and it is surprisingly a very tiring activity. The walls were thrilling to climb and with them all being different, it kept the experience fresh and fun.
Gravity Entertainment has more to offer at Xscape Yorkshire, with a brand new E karting experience launching later in October 2022. This will consist of a family and pro race setting, with some of the best electric karts available to ride. As a true thrilling experience, it will be loved by many we are sure. We tried these E karts at another Gravity venue in London last year and we loved them!
That won’t be the only new addition, with Immersive Gamebox launching here too which is another top activity which we have enjoyed in many locations. There will be Karaoke booths and other fun activities available too.
Overall, Gravity at Xscape Yorkshire is another thrilling venue by the group and we enjoyed all of the activities across our several hour visit. Each activity is fun for all the family and even as adults, we love these kind of experiences that make us feel young!
All tickets can be purchased via the Xscape Yorkshire or Gravity Entertainment website. We love to say thank you to the team who looked after us on the day and provided us a complimentary experience for all the activities in exchange of our coverage.
