Do you wish you could drive a boat with some friends but have no boating experience? Well you are in luck! GoBoat UK is a fun, self driving experience which has setup in a number of locations across the UK for you to do just that. Taking up to 8 guests onboard, you can travel for up to 3 hours across different canals and take it in the views, have a picnic and enjoy this cool experience! 

GoBoat is a Danish company which launched in 2014 before coming to the UK in more recent years. They love giving customers the freedom and fun on the water, allowing you to be the captain without having a boating license. The boats are electric and have a silent motor on them, which allow them to operate very quietly as well as being very sustainable. They only reach a top speed of 4mph, but are perfect for a leisurely cruise with friends or family to create some unique memories. 

Driving the boat couldn’t be easier, with you essentially just needing to use the simple electric motor at the end of the boat and steering it using the handle. Whilst one person is driving, the rest can enjoy the scenery, have a picnic and just enjoy being out on a boat! 

Each location is different with what you can see and do, such as Paddington is a no alcohol location, where as the others you can bring a limited amount of alcohol. As Paddington goes through regents canal, you go past Regents Park and London Zoo, so you get to see some unusual sights!

We enjoyed our 2 hour boat ride along the canal, with the weather being very kind to us in early September. No worries if not, as the boat is equipped with umbrellas and other safety equipment for your journey. We bought some picnic items nearby and enjoyed some soft drinks, snacks and lunch on the boat as we went along our journey. It was great to snap some pictures and have the time enjoying this part of London.

Overall, GoBoat is an incredible boat adventure which offers family fun thrills on the water! Whilst some may say it is expensive, if you are able to get a group of 6 to 8 on the boat, the cost dramatically drops and the more people the better on these types of experiences. We recommend this experience for groups of friends after something different to do in London as well as families, perfect for sunny days!
