Mystery Mansion Escape Rooms is a business located in Regina in the South of Canada. Usually hosting games in person, they have multiple real life rooms that can be played at their location. With the pandemic affecting all parts of the world, they have adapted these games to be played online and to be shared worldwide. 

Whilst most of the games have been adapted for online play, they have also taken the opportunity to make some online only rooms, meaning they have built rooms that have been designed just for the game master to play in and use a live camera feed for the experience. Pretty cool, right?

The online versions of these games are hosted via Zoom using a live camera feed from your host. The host seems to play a different character for each themed rooms and with such a diverse range, you have a variety to choose from. 

Alongside Zoom, you do need another screen or device for their live inventory system. This system is an interactive way of solving some puzzles, looking at puzzles in more detail and looking around the room instead of having just one angle from the camera. The system they used was perfect for all devices but, using this on the PC on another screen worked best. 

Storyline & Themeing: 10/10
The idea of a drag themed escape room is something we have not seen or come across in the escape room world. With the theme in recent years becoming more widely known and accepted, this really gave them a fantastic concept. They managed to use multiple references relating to the drag world within and even some Drag Race references too. Even if you don’t know that much on the topic, it allows for some great laughs, dirty humour and all round fantastic story. The themeing of the room lived up to the story and worked for a live camera feed styled game.

Puzzles & Flow: 7/10
The puzzles throughout were fun and stretching the 75 minutes to it’s maximum, with the time flying by quicker than we realised. With more than enough puzzles, they ranged from the inventory system that was highly interactive, to getting the host to complete. This mixture was really interesting to see and overall, allowed for some trickery to be used when required.
