Carderby Keep by Castle Crusaders Review

Castle Crusaders continues but this time Jackson Jacobe needs your help! Another castle, 16 new games but the same old Jackson…

Castle Crusaders is a live online breakout game which has been designed for some family fun during the pandemic times. Replacing your typical zoom quiz evenings, Castle Crusaders is a selection of mini games played in a medieval castle setting with a live host, Jackson Jacobe.

Taking 60-80 minutes to complete, you play 16 games over 4 different zones before then trying to escape in one final game.

The first game Jacobe Castle, was introduced back in 2020 and you can find more about our thoughts on this experience by clicking here!

The new experience Carderby Keep, launched in March 2021 and continues from where you left off. This time, Jackson needs your help as he’s been kidnapped to a new castle. To help him escape, you will need to play 16 new and harder games before attempting to escape.

Carderby Keep can cost as little as £9 per player but it is from £40 to play the experience. With offers such as 20% if you book both castles and midweek madness, where you book to escape during the week. To book and find how much it will cost your group, head to the website for the full breakdown and offers.

Carderby Keep starts where the last experience ends, which is great to see the continuation to the story. You are introduced with Jackson Jacobe again in the new castle where you find out he has been kidnapped and that the only way to escape is to play 16 new games. With this said, the 16 games have increased in difficulty. They follow the same silly style as before but the stakes have been raised in order to try and win as many letters as possible. These letters allow you to guess the final passphrase to escape the castle and more importantly, free Jackson!

Carderby Keep by Castle Crusaders Review

The 16 games were equally as great as the original castle and playing the first time round. If you loved the first game, there is no reason why you wouldn’t enjoy 16 more mini games. With the difficulty being increased, this means you really need to think this time round. We managed to only lose 2 games in Jacobe Castle but in Carderby Keep, we lost 5 with many more very close calls!

Carderby Keep also has many surprises along the way, such as a new character within the castle. We loved the addition although it was very random at first, it all made sense in the end.

With all that said, Carderby Keep is the perfect follow up experience after Jacobe Castle. With 16 new games increasing in difficulty, the same old Jacobe and unexpected twists and turns along the way, we had another hour of laughs with Jackson Jacobe. The concept of the experience really is one of the best you’ll see and can that has come from this pandemic. The cost to play is affordable for families within the same household and is great for friends too. It does not matter if you are after a family friendly show or a ‘family friendly’ show, the fantastic live host can tailor the experience to who is within the group and how you react.

Carderby Keep is brand new and has only just been released. We are very thankful to be the first official group to experience this live show and you can book yours now via the Castle Crusaders website. Can you save Jackson?
