What would you do if you had 60 minutes to plan and commit the perfect crime?
The Perfect Crime is an exciting new immersive experience that has opened up in Central London this summer. Created by Rogue Productions, the team behind well known attractions such as The Crystal Maze Experience, Heist and Time Run. Using all of their prior experience, The Perfect Crime is born as the ultimate combination of immersive theatre and escape games in an action packed experience.
Opened on June 24th 2021, The Perfect Crime needs you to assemble your crew who is ready to commit the theft of the century. Will you steal The Storm of the Sea or The Concert, two previously missing priceless art pieces which only till now have their locations been known. Time is against you, as you only get 60 minutes to commit The Perfect Crime!
“Meet your contact at Theatre Deli to find out more…
Break into the storehouse of a veteran thief, and evade their security.
All you have to do is meet us at their hideaway and overcome their extensive security systems. You’ll have to trick high tech locks, crack safes, crawl through their laser matrix and disable alarms to finally get your hands on the most valuable missing piece of art in the world!
Will you claim the FBI reward? Or chance your arm on the Black Market?
You have a window of 60 minutes. Synchronise watches now.
Complete the most memorable theft known to man. Question is: Will you get caught?”
The Perfect Crime started with a great introduction. You take a seat within the bar area within Theatre Deli and if you wish, you can have a drink before your mission. A character known as Viroc then enters the bar scene and sets the story and gets you into the swing of things of what is expected to commit a perfect crime.
You start the experience in a store cupboard and from there, it’s go time. You enter a series of realistic rooms trying to steal one of two paintings. We had to try and steal The Concert by Vermeer, worth a staggering $100 million on the black market or, you can return it back to the FBI for $1 million…
You had to try and avoid setting off any alarms during the experience which is of course needed to commit the perfect crime. Although this wasn’t the only obstacle on your mission. CCTV cameras, lasers and security guards were all going to be in the way each step of the way. You didn’t think they’d make it that easy, did you?
Storyline & Themeing: 9/10
The Perfect Crime was an immersive experience and used this new style of entertainment within an escape game setup. This meant the story was so much more in depth, played out perfectly by actors instead of pre recorded clips or automated events. With security guards roaming the rooms at any given time, the help of ‘Control’ which was a live contact feed assisting you through your mission, it created a real life art heist which felt genuine that you were the main character within. The themeing was realistic and detailed within the multiple rooms along and this continued with the puzzles and escape room element.
Puzzles & Flow: 8/10
The puzzles throughout The Perfect Crime were designed effortlessly into the story and the theme of the crime. Everything felt like you were slowly progressing to steal the painting and each step was necessary to completing that. Some of the puzzles required skill and some were fun and energetic. Overall, nothing was easy with the security guards being around though. At any given moment we had to duck and hide in rooms we’ve only just seen otherwise we would of had to blag our way out of a difficult situation. They even reset puzzles if you weren’t clever enough to cover your steps!
Uniqueness: 10/10
The Perfect Crime is the definition of unique. With the mixture of immersive entertainment along with the escape game aspects, whilst a handful of experiences have started to incorporate this, The Perfect Crime has to be the top of the list with this experience. With the team of Rogue Productions creating this with previous knowledge of well talked about experiences across Europe, this was also going to be a recipe for brilliantness – you could even say it is PERFECT!
Overall, The Perfect Crime is one of London’s hottest and most epic experiences you can do this year! Having security systems like the CCTV cameras, lasers and sensor flooring really created the realistic experience. Although it felt difficult for just 2 players, and the security guards added additional pressure throughout the game, the guidance from Control really assisted with pushing you through the game without spoiling the experience. The whole time you are there, it feels genuine and realistic.
We are thankful to experience this during the press preview event and thank the team at Rogue Productions for letting us come down to experience this epic attraction. Tickets can be purchased live on the website found here – The Perfect Crime
Let us know if you could do better than us and if you managed to steal the priceless art. Our perfect crime was a little less perfect, with 6 alarms being set off during our time!
