Scream Fields is a brand new event for 2021 that is located on the Lancanshire / Yorkshire border. Hosted at Thornton Hall Country Park, this venue hosts a range of day and night events throughout the year and has only recently started to dabble with their own Halloween event.
Scream Fields originally tried to debut the event back in 2020, but with the pandemic getting in the way, they had to quickly change to a drive thru event.
This new event opened on Friday 8th October and the start of its 17 night run throughout October. Offering 4 mazes, food, drink & entertainment in the Scream Arena and much more, the event has you covered for an evening of scares.
The event is perfectly sized and we were pleasantly surprised to see 4 solid mazes in it’s opening year. There was a roaming actor around all night along with some other entertainment, from fire shows to stilt walkers. Along with some music, this was enough entertainment for an event of this size.
Some good knowledge to have before attending the event is that all the mazes and walkways have gravel concrete flooring. So don’t worry if it does rain!
Happy Endings

Happy Endings is an outdoors maze and it was recommended to do at night. With a carnival and scrap yard mashup theme, we expected clowns, junk and pretty lights. On top of that, we got some great custom made music and scares. The themeing was pretty on brand with the event and it had a nice little storyline to go with it. The actors played their part perfectly, from storytellers to tall, lanky actors with led pipes!

Death House
“Enter a sprawling gnarly mansion and try to survive a killer family in a real life radical 1980’s slasher movie.”
Death House was an indoor attraction within a farmyard barn kind of area. With a wooden exterior, this gave the most realistic feel of a maze out of all the experiences. The starting actor stole the show in Death House, playing her part in explaining the story yet getting maximum scares from us. The themeing kept up inside alongside the story and the other actors played a more theatrical piece, instead of scary. One of the smallest mazes of the evening, the actors’ story in each scene helped extend the experience.

B30
“Submerged thirty floors below in the UK’s largest radioactive nuclear waste facility.”
B30 was a perfect mix of story and scares. You could see before even entering this maze, it was effect heavy from the smoke pouring from the marquee. Don’t let the marquee put you off though, as this haunt had so many immersive elements that took you away from being inside a white marquee tent. Which is a pretty hard thing to do. Whilst the themeing was quite cheap and basic in this attraction, there were so many technical effects within B30, with heavy smoke, loud tension music and heavy strobed sections. We absolutely got lost, disoriented and scared within this attraction.

DeepRave
“A secret rave in the UK’s most haunted abandoned hospital. What could possibly go wrong..?”
Deeprave was certainly a unique attraction. Entering through an ambulance before making your way through a not so abandoned hospital. The scares came thick and fast and were hidden around each and every corner. With never a dull moment, the actors brought this maze alive with the scares, story and sexual nature. Not forgetting the humour given in this attraction, it pushes the boundaries of a typical maze, we love to see attractions like this shine as something different to the usual. Especially in its opening year!
Whilst Deeprave was our favourite of the evening and the scariest, it was a shame to not hear any rave music or have any rave scenes in this attraction. This said, you definitely weren’t in this attraction to have a rave, with the ending certainly having us screaming as we left!

Scream Fields overall was incredible for its opening year. Knowing it was built in house with a small team and a very limited time frame, just makes it even more special. Every actor which introduced the maze was outstanding and made each maze the best it could be from the very beginning. The mazes were built cleverly, giving multiple opportunities for the actors to get you from pretty much everywhere. From crawling and ducking sections included and not left as empty scare space.
We wish to thank the Scream Fields team for inviting us up north to experience the opening of this brand new event. With it being almost a 6 hour drive, it certainly didn’t disappoint and highly recommended you visit!
