Storyline & Theming: 7/10

Stepping into Capital Caper, it sets a great scene and follows a nice story throughout. This multi room escape has a high quality finish and has many interesting and unique items. Nothing felt out of place and there were plenty of surprises hidden from start to finish. Whilst there is a deeper storyline to the room, it was simple enough to follow with it being a jewellery theft. The link between the rooms could be classed as a little mismatch but if looked at individually, they were great. 

Puzzles & Flow: 5/10

The puzzles within Capital Caper were more modern and technology based, compared to the older school padlock and keys games. They had some fantastic moments where the puzzles were used and the logic behind them was clever and different. With this said, sadly the room had a fair few moments of broken puzzles or illogical puzzles. Whilst we can understand some technical issues with technology puzzles, an illogical puzzle is super frustrating. In this scenario, if you didn’t understand chess and how each piece moved in a game, you wouldn’t be able to complete the relevant puzzle. This therefore affected the flow of our experience although we did manage to escape still.

Uniqueness: 5/10

Capital Caper wasn’t much of a unique room however, it did have some different puzzles and clever moments. We liked the use of some hidden rooms and transitions between these rooms too. 

Overall, Capital Caper was a fun room and still a challenge despite some improvements needed. It provided our team of 4 an hour of adventure and we did love some elements made by the team of Mazer Zone. We would expect the team to make changes throughout time and these will be sure for the benefit of the overall experience.
