Fårup Sommerland is a theme park in northern Denmark near the city of Aalborg. The park opened in 1975, with the addition of a waterpark in 1989. There have been many attractions built over the years, but more recently several Vekoma rollercoasters have been added which really cater to the family/thrill lineup. The park is easily accessible by car; we used a hire car for our trip and was approx 2.5 hours from Billund airport. It is worth noting that the car park is after the entrance gates, so have your tickets ready at arrival.

There are 8 rollercoasters at Fårup Sommerland which has something for everyone right from children through to thrillseekers. Saven is their family boomerang coaster, Orkanen is an excellent family suspended coaster which dives through the lake, there’s a classic spinning mouse, and even a wooden coaster. The two smaller coasters aimed at children can also be ridden by adults. Fønix and Lynet bring the thrills to the lineup with multiple inversions and even one with a super quick launch.

Fårup Sommerland also has waterpark included in the entry. It is open for a few months a year in the summer and has heated water so it’s enjoyable whatever the weather. It was cloudy with some rain during our visit and didn’t put us off at all. The waterpark features at least 7 different waterslide attractions including a double looping capsule slide, face-first mat racer, and a set of crazy wild water rapids which were worth experiencing for sure.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Fårup Sommerland, every attraction was so much fun, and the park felt so clean and had a charming woodland & lakeside vibe. The highlight of course has to be the amazing Fønix rollercoaster, but we particularly enjoyed Lynet and Orkanen too. It was great to have the waterpark included too and spend a bit of our time in there, especially with the crazy rapids and double looping waterslide. It’s a really well rounded day out.
