Fun Spot Orlando Review 2022

Fun Spot is a brand of amusement/theme parks in America with a focus on fun. Their three different locations are Atlanta, Kissimmee and Orlando, the latter which this review is about.

Fun Spot in Orlando is home to 4 go kart tracks, 3 rollercoasters, many thrilling and fun attractions, plus the 2nd tallest sky coaster in the world! It is located in the main resort of Orlando near Universal and just off International Drive which is easily accessible by car or taxi. The park is free to enter, and you can pay per attraction by topping up a Fun E-card, or buy an unlimited rides wristband (with or without the Sky Coaster); evening and other discounts are available.

The 4 go kart tracks each have their own unique features which makes each one worth a go. Commander is the most popular and extreme track with hairpin bends, and heights of 45 feet; this can be experienced in double or single karts. Quad Helix does exactly what it says, a winding track with lots of banked spiral turns. Conquest is another multi level track with a ‘double corkscrew Florida Ski Jump figure of 8’ layout; this can be experienced on single or double karts so younger guests can join too. During our visit we sadly did not get to experience the Thrasher track which did not reopen after the inclement weather; this track offers the fastest kart experience at the park on a flat course with lots of turns and speedy straights. The other go kart tracks we did experience were very fun, though we wished they were a little quicker, however the helixes, banked turns and other features definitely kept them interesting.

White Lightning is the headline rollercoaster at Fun Spot Orlando which stands out around the edge of the park with its drop and many airtime hills; it is a very fun and re-rideable wooden coaster manufactured by GCI and features a snappy layout with speeds of up to 48mph which is even better at night. Freedom Flyer is a family suspended coaster manufactured by Vekoma, suitable as an enjoyable ride for older children and adults; with a top speed of 34mph it weaves its way over the top of walkways in the park and looks great in its blue and yellow colour scheme. Sea Serpent is the third rollercoaster at Fun Spot and is a small and simple rollercoaster aimed at younger children (we think we’re a bit too big for this one)!

There are many other thrilling and fun attractions suited to a variety of age groups at the park. Firecracker is a spinning drop tower, Rip Curl is a fast paced spinning ride on an undulating track, and Headrush 360 does what it says spinning 360 on a pendulum whilst having some hangtime moments. Hot Seat is a large swing attraction with just a lapbar where you are sent up to 90 degrees each way in quick succession. There’s bumper cars, bumper boats, a Ferris wheel, a classic Tilt-A-Whirl ride; they have a fun house attraction, chair swing (which has certain seats in a flying position) and some other smaller children’s attractions. There’s also Gator Spot (included in the wristband) which is a small zoo section mostly featuring alligators which you can even pay extra to feed! Fun Spot parks also feature midway games stalls and an arcade where you can win prizes.

Fun Spot parks boast the tallest sky coasters in the world; the Orlando location is home to the second biggest one at 250ft tall! What is a sky coaster? It’s not an actual rollercoaster, but instead something much more scary, exhilarating and thrilling; a giant swing ride where you are in an exposed flying position. The tension is built slowly being pulled up to the top whilst facing the ground below and looking at the surroundings. At the top the designated rider has to pull the rip cord to release and drop; the sensation is absolutely terrifying plummeting head first towards the ground, but with the adrenaline and soon turning into the large swinging motion you have time to appreciate what just happened and enjoy the rest of the soaring back and forth over the park!

We’d like to thank the marketing team at Fun Spot for inviting us to experience the Orlando park, where we received two unlimited ride wristbands including a go on the sky coaster, plus special filming permission to be able to bring you additional content.
