Merlin theme parks to reopen from 4th july

Updates shared around lunchtime today from the Merlin Theme Parks show their intention to reopen on 4th July providing government guidance allows them to…

Alton Towers, Chessington World of Adventures & Thorpe Park have released Covid-19 updates today which state their intention to reopen the theme parks from the 4th July. This will be dependent on the government advice which is subject to change. At the time of writing, Legoland Windsor had not provided a specific reopening date, but suggests 4th July as they are cancelling all holiday bookings until 3rd July.

Merlin as a whole, and the individual theme parks & other attractions have been releasing information regarding the measures that have and will be put in place to allow them to safely reopen, including prebooked tickets to guarantee entry due to reduced capacities, and gaps to be left between rows on rollercoasters. For full information please see their websites.

Merlin have also recently announced the 5 month extension to any Merlin Annual Passes that were due to expire after 18th March 2020, and that they will be freezing monthly membership payments until end of August. This reflects the potential issues regarding demand and capacities that the attractions will face in the coming months after reopening.

Will you be planning to visit a Merlin theme park as soon as they reopen?
