Operation E.G.G. by clueQuest Review

Celebrate Easter with an EGG-CITING EGG-sperience at clueQuest. Scramble together your best recruits and join Mr Q on another mission to defeat villainous Professor Blacksheep!

clueQuest are back with a game for the Easter period and it’s not EGG-splict for the holiday period (we will apologise now). As a Print, Cut, Escape designed game, this follows the successful chain of play at home games created by the clueQuest team over the previous year.

Print, Cut, Escape games allow you to simply buy the game from the website to then print out, cut out and then attempt to escape! Costing at £15 per game and with multiple special bundles available via their website, they have more than enough games to keep you busy at home.

Whilst they have been an EGG-cellent addition over the last year, these games will remain on sale and perfect for an evening in at anytime of the year!

Operation E.G.G. lets you celebrate Easter with an EGG-citing EGG-sperience, personalise the game with your own in-jokes, include your own Easter Egg hunt and has challenging puzzles, but nothing too EGG-streme.

“As any hard-boiled detective knows, it’s important to keep your sleuthing skills at the top of their game. Luckily, the egg-heads over at clueQuest HQ have developed this training course for all our agents. So scramble together a team and get ready to foil the villainous Professor Blacksheep as he attempts to poach our latest technological marvel – the Elastic Gateway Generator.”

Operation E.G.G. EGG-spands on the new feature that was introduced in the mechanics of the heart valentines special. Personalisation! We’re so glad to see this feature be used in the Easter special. This time, you can add a few in-jokes or personal references to your team prior to playing. If that wasn’t enough, you can make this an Easter Egg hunt by adding three secret places in your house and add the clues to show up after each chapter of the game.

We also get to see the return of MM7, Mr Q’s personal robo mouse assistant. This time he trains as a new recruit in the field and you team up to solve the latest villainous attempt by Professor Blacksheep. Things are never as they look at clueQuest HQ, with brand new puzzles, clever techniques and EGG-ceptional cinematic clips to keep you engaged in the story.

The mixture of the online system and paper puzzles are used like before to create a 90 minute EGG-splosive adventure. With all the additional EGG jokes, what more could you be after?

Operation EGG by ClueQuest

Storyline & Themeing: 9/10
clueQuest always EGG-cell in story creation and this gets showcased through Operation E.G.G.. Whilst a paper based game, the use of the video really engages players into the story. Making it not all black and white. Adding characters such as MM7 into the storyline keeps the stories fresh with the never ending battle with Professor Blacksheep.

Whilst online, the themeing still shows through the video creation, story and puzzles. Being an Easter special, all the egg puns couldn’t be controlled!

Puzzles & Flow: 6/10
The puzzles are still as creative as ever and really are clever. Sometimes requiring the use of both the paper puzzles and the use of the online game portal. These have developed since the introduction of the Print, Cut, Escape series.

The puzzles did seem a little easier this time around but had a very challenging and achieving sense when you did complete them still. This felt right to do as allowed the younger market to get more involved in this mission.

Uniqueness: 7/10
clueQuest always have pushed the limits and they keep expanding with what they can do and how they can do it. The use of personalisation being brought back for this Easter special was the right thing to do. With them managing to keep this with the theme and find a useful purpose for this feature, it really makes it stand out.

clueQuest Operation EGG quote

Overall, clueQuest is an EGG-cellent blended paper and online escape challenge, certainly not short of puns! With personalisation, puns and puzzles, it creates for a cracking experience! We managed to crack the mission in just over 90 minutes with only 1 hint!

Whilst we learn to stop making egg jokes, we highly recommend you take on this new mission set by Mr Q and the rest of the team at clueQuest. We’re very thankful to the team to allow us to EGG-sperience another mission and enjoy Easter in the best way possible, puzzle based!
