*PLEASE NOTE, THIS REVIEW HAS SPOILERS OF THE SENSAS EXPERIENCE*
“Embark on a unique multi-sensory experience where your senses and body will be put to the test”
SENSAS is a challenge based experience in which you can participate in teams of 4 to 15. It is based around the 5 senses and requires willingness to step into the unknown: there are fears to overcome, skills to be tested, and most importantly a lot of laughs & team bonding. You can easily find the experience a short walk from Vauxhall train station in London.
The experience starts by checking in and meeting your friendly game host. You are required to put all personal belongings into a locker, and also your shoes, as this experience is played wearing socks (make sure you’re wearing some). After an introduction to the experience and the safety rules you then enter into the arena with 3 main hubs called ‘SAS’. Your games host will guide you through each section, where you have to complete challenges to gain codes and open as many safes as possible to collect SENSAS tokens.
The first SAS we were sent into was based around Taste and Touch, which is undoubtedly the one to make you uncomfortable. The tasks set were designed to play on the fear of the unknown and pushing yourself passed a boundary which you likely have set. It was simple yet effective, with most of the team getting involved after the shock factor settling in.
SPOILER SECTION BELOW
Split into two separate challenges, the first sees you enter a pitch black room where you have to guess what the different items are by tasting them (they do ask for allergies/intolerances prior to arrival). The second room is in the dark but this time based on touch guessing what’s in each – did something move or is that just our imagination?! Both tasks really get your heart racing in different ways and how it plays on your mind before, during and after is very well done by SENSAS.
The next SAS was based around Smell and Hearing which really makes you have to think and put your mind to the test. Whilst the challenges are set in mostly dark rooms and you requiring these particular senses, you wouldn’t of thought you’d be questioning yourself on these challenges. However, we were all second guessing ourselves from start to finish on these tasks!
SPOILER SECTION BELOW
With multiple smell challenges you have to use your nose to identify familiar, and not so familiar smells. Hearing uses the classic game of charades where the team split and have to listen with headphones on what they have to act out and the other half have to guess. Both challenges were fun and actually quite challenging. With the smell challenge really questioning you sense and if you was right in two different tasks set, we even thought we smashed one of the tasks so quickly but we couldn’t be more wrong!
The last SAS was based on Sight and was definitely the most hands-on and fun, a great way to finish off the experience. This was one of our favourites part of the experience and sure it will be yours too! The challenges set here are a true highlight to SENSAS.
SPOILER section below
Everyone wants to be a big kid playing in a ballpit, but it’s equally frustrating and fun when you have to search through a waist-deep pit for different items. There’s also a difficult laser maze to channel your inner spy. These final challenges for us created what seemed to be an easy task, made impossible! How hard is it to find some rather large items in a ball bit? How hard is a laser maze? Both challenges really made us laugh at how our skills were maybe not up to scratch and we maybe a little blind!

The advantage with this experience and the structured nature, it is suitable for almost everyone and you will not be forced to do anything you do not feel comfortable with. However once you’re in the experience with your team, you will find new levels of courage to get stuck in and get the most enjoyment out of the challenges, and maybe even surprise yourself. CCTV is located in all the rooms with screens in the hubs so the team can see what’s going on.
At the end of the experience there is a mind-bending photo opportunity on a sideways underground train where you can strike a pose, sit, hang or stand from all angles. The host will happily take the snaps on your own devices which you can share to commemorate your time at SENSAS and confuse your friends & family.
“By surpassing yourself and overcoming our challenges, you will collect a number of tokens which convert into a donation that SENSAS makes to its partner charity – Disability Snowsport UK – supporting people with disabilities. SENSAS is proud to combine an interactive and fun activity with real actions through donations.”
The team thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with so many laughs and screams throughout the experience; the different activities allowed each person to utilise their strengths, and show their weaknesses. We’d like to thank SENSAS for booking us in for a complimentary session for the six of us.
