Therme Erding 2022 Review

Therme Erding is the largest thermal bath complex in Europe and is only located 30 minutes away from Munich. Opening back in 1999, Therme Erding is a very different place now in 2022. With several different areas you can enjoy including Galaxy Erding, one of the largest indoor waterparks in Europe, Vital Oasis which is a clothed spa & Vital Therme Sauna, a large nude spa area. This is only touching what Therme Erding have to offer, with a large outdoor area, pool bars, special events and even outdoor slides. With over 4000 guests a day and 27 slides, 34 pools & water basins plus 35 saunas and bath rooms, Therme Erding is a huge complex that’ll fulfil your water needs.

Ticket pricing is a little difficult to explain with Therme Erding, as it depends on what you wish to do. Each section from the Galaxy & Wave pool area, Vital Oasis & Vital Therme & Saunas, charge separately. You can select just one of these areas or include all of them, you can select for a few hours up to all day. The system works on a wristband which you need to enter each area, if you have not purchased the relevant area, it’ll be charged on your wristband to pay on the way out. This is alongside food & drink so you don’t have to pay with cash, plus it is used to access your locker.

Victory Guesthouse

Therme Erding offer accommodation to make your stay a little longer and a little easier. They have Hotel Victory which is within the Therme Erding complex and Victory Guesthouse, which is just across the car park. Each accommodation has a variation of different rooms from studios, apartments and nautical themes. We were very grateful to get to stay in the new bay side room in the Victory Guesthouse. This is a brand new theme for 2022, with the rooms being spacious, reasonably priced and have a nice cosy atmosphere.

The Victory Guesthouse can provide a breakfast offering at an upcharge to the room. This includes a buffet option with a selection of cold & hot foods with something for everyone.

The overall stay was pleasant and easy. We would recommend anybody to stay onsite so you can spend 2 days at Therme Erding and even if it is just 1 day, the package of comfort, ease and luxury nature of the rooms are high quality and amazing.

Galaxy Erding

Galaxy Erding is Therme Erdings slide area, which boasts a massive 27 slides within the complex. With 3 different levels, from Family, Action and Xtreme, there is honestly a slide for every guest! Most of the slides are indoors however, there is a handful of the slides in the outdoor area.

Starting with the Xtreme level, sadly 2 of these were closed during our visit. One of these were outside and discuss in the next section. Kamikaze is the one that remains and with a 60 degrees drop, it was certainly a short, sharp thrill. With all of these Xtreme slides, they have very strict conditions of who can ride, with one of them not being being available to females!

In the Action section of slides, there are 11 slides that range from a space bowl, a river rapids to racing slides. A mixture of body and tube slides, as well as metal & plastic based slides make up Galaxy Erding. Our favourites would be the wild water rapids, the racing slides and getting to do one of Europe’s largest enclosed tube slides!

Outdoor Area

Therme Erding have one of the largest outdoors areas we’ve seen for a waterpark. It contains more than enough seating and is perfect for the warm weather, like during our visit! It has 4 outdoor waterslides which opens only in the summer season and with it being over 18 degrees. They open for limited hours usually in the afternoon from around midday to 6pm. It contains a 6 lane rainbow racing slide, a summer space bowl, an open body slide and the big wave tube slide. The big wave slide being the highlight of course, with its huge half pipe sections, proving very popular with all guests and having the biggest queue all day.

On certain evenings and during special events, they have a stage in the outdoor pool which allows for music and other entertainment. We got to see a live band play during the afternoon as well as a DJ playing some summer songs. The pool also has a pool bar which plays music too, which all combined creates one of the best atmospheres at a waterpark.

Vital Oasis & Vital Therme Sauna

Outside the madness of the slides and pools, Therme Erding also has a relaxing nature about it with their spas. Vital Oasis being for 16 years + and containing a number of spa like rooms, such as saunas, steam rooms and salt pools. It was very relaxing to go through all of these and it wasn’t too busy, with it having additional seating indoors and outdoors compared to the main area.

Vital Therme Sauna adds onto this area and is a rather large area. Once again, for over 16 years old guests but it is a nude only area. Guests are required to remove swimwear and must wear a towel when walking around. In the UK this is a rather unusual concept however, in Europe and Germany it is quite common and seems very popular. The area included a relaxing DJ, a party sauna, other hotter steam saunas and even plunge pools. It was a whole another world which the size fooled us with how big it actually was, as without stepping into the area you wouldn’t really know.

As of the nature of these areas, we did not take any footage but would highly recommend to explore these areas as they are very popular.

Food & Drink

With it being such a huge complex, you can expect a lot of food and drink options at Therme Erding. You can find a number of places to grab a snack from frozen yogurts, ice creams and other dessert like treats. They have many fast food options too such as burgers, chicken nuggets and German classics like currywurst. They have restaurant areas too for a more civilised lunch or dinner, and with all payments they are made via your wristband and paid upon exit.

Drink wise you can get most drinks, from coffees & teas, to softdrinks, to beers, wines and cocktails. They even had several themed bars scattered around and these seemed highly popular. We enjoyed many different drinks and found them all to be served quickly, at a reasonable value as well as being delicious!

Our Thoughts

Dean; “Therme Erding is a great resort. I thoroughly enjoyed the waterpark, though a shame the ‘ski jump’ slide was closed, will definitely have to return for that, and the not so secret new slide they’re building. The spa and outdoor areas were also a great place to relax after tiring myself out on the slides.”

Austyn; “What a place to visit! They honestly had so much to do and with the hot weather, it just flew by time wise. The slides were all so different and by the time you completed them all, you wanted to go back round again. The atmosphere was lively, everything was simple enough to understand and overall, I had a great time.”

Overall Therme Erding is one lively waterpark and spa. They have so much to offer and you can easily spend a number of days here having a different adventure each time. We enjoyed each area of Therme Erding as much as the last and we look forward to return to visit the slides that were closed this time round, as well as the new one they are building!

A massive thanks to the team at Therme Erding for inviting us to visit, supplying us with a room upgrade to the new bay side rooms, 2 day entry to all of the areas, as well as food, drinks and treats across our time visiting.

If you are visiting Munich or anywhere nearby, then add Therme Erding to your list!
