Thorpe Park Mardi Gras 2022 Review

Are you ready for a party like no other? Thorpe Park Resort have introduced a brand new event, Mardi Gras! Turning the temperature up with exhilarating rides, Louisiana vibes and authentic street food, this celebration is one not to be missed this spring.

Mardi Gras runs from the 19th May to the 19th June 2022. Throughout these dates, the park has different opening hours between 10am – 5pm, 10am – 6pm and even 10am – 7pm! Each day offers more entertainment than usual across the resort, with the main hub being located throughout deep in the park around Detonator, Nemesis Inferno & Teacups.

You’ll even find more food options than usual at the resort, with several additional food stands alongside special treats at some of the other outlets!

What makes this all even better is that it is all included with your park ticket & annual pass entry, no extra charges. The event may not be for you? No problems, just continue your day enjoying the rides you love.

With so much entertainment going on at Mardi Gras, there is enough to see throughout your day. Starting off on the main stage, you have the main show called Crowning of the Krewes, a 15 minute singing, dancing and rap performance from the 4 different Krewes at the resort. These being Nemesina, Rift Racers, Rapid Rhymer & Aqueous, all themed to rides & attractions across the resort. Each having a song to perform to the public before the Royals request your votes to decide the winner and crown!

Other stage shows include the Fat Brass Jazz Band that’ll play popular chart music that you know in their funky jazz style and the Drum Works Community Band, which will keep the vibe going with their infectious music.

The smaller stage outside Nemesis Inferno will also feature some music performances from different acts throughout the event!

If the stage shows were not enough, they have even more entertainment throughout the Mardi Gras hub area. A Street Parade happens multiple times a day which includes the full Mardi Gras team, which party their way from Depth Charge through to Nemesis Inferno. Whilst short, it had a great vibe and atmosphere as they passed by.

Outside the back of Burger King and by Rumba Rapids / Teacups, there is an area with some pumping music can be enjoyed. Whilst usually a dead area at the park, this allows a place to chill and party. The parade also crosses this area, so a perfect quiet place to spot them!

The Mardi Gras Krewes were also out roaming in full force during our visit, and they can met for meet and greets, as well as they were partying in several different areas. The Royals were perfect with their interactions with all guests and looked like they had so much fun!

It wouldn’t be a Mardi Gras event without some food. The New Orleans has some very unique twists to the UK food and the event brings some snacks you wouldn’t of expected to see, especially at Thorpe Park! Crocodile burgers, Po Boys, and even a Rainbow Donut are just some of the food now on offer. If you fancy some meat, then you can try the Crocodile burger, or maybe a Buffalo burger? They have Louisiana Ribs and that is just Thorpe Park getting started. Cajun fries and Chipotle Chicken Pizza, it feels the list does not stop. They even have sweet treats such as the Mardi Gras Cake, Rainbow Donuts or just even a Cupcake!

Most of this food can be found in the Mardi Gras Hub, with new street food stalls being setup just outside Angry Bird Land. Peckish & Sombrero’s also have some treats you can find. A food & drink stand is also opposite the teacups to provide even more options, as well a new bar so you don’t have to go far for a beverage!

Thorpe Park Resort have also added some theming across the resort for Mardi Gras. It adds some colour to the the resort as well it completes the atmosphere. Fancy some merch? Then Thorpe have you covered with a t-shirt, mug and pin badge all themed for the event.

The whole Mardi Gras event is one of the best events Thorpe Park have put in on recent years. The whole resort comes alive with such a happy, colourful and vibrant atmosphere which is infectious for everyone. The additional entertainment adds to your typical day and these shows and characters are great fillers inbetween the rides & attractions.

We really enjoyed this visit to the park and for this event and would love to say thank you to Thorpe Park & the press team for inviting us down to visit. We were invited to the press event, which was open to the public on Thursday 19th May for the first day of the event, but were given some free food & drink to sample for review, as well as unlimited fastrack for the day.
