Thorpe Park Oktoberfest 2021 Review

Oktoberfest is a popular event celebrated in Germany. In 2020 several UK theme parks attempted their own events which proved popular. In 2021 Thorpe Park has brought back their Oktoberfest event which promises to be bigger and better.

“It’s time to dust off your lederhosen and join us for an Oktoberfest event like no other. Tuck into classic German delights or chill out with a cold Stein of traditional Oktoberfest beer all whilst soaking up the atmosphere full to the brim with Bavarian sights and sounds.”

There is bunting aplenty, as well as themed Oktoberfest flags, two stages, a themed marquee and food & beverage stalls, you’ll be sure to know the event is going on at the resort.

The main stage is located opposite Derren Brown’s Ghost Train, and has benches and other stand-up tables around it, there’s also a bar serving beer & water, plus a range of Oktoberfest food stalls including Bratwursts (obviously). The secondary stage (new for this years event) is located within the marquee in Lost City, it’s a smaller stage with benches around, there’s also a bar, and the Cantina food outlet next door serving chicken wings.

The Oktoberfest version of the Thorpe Park soundtrack can be heard blasting around the resort, alongside other atmospheric songs. Some of the theme parks attractions have been given a mini Oktoberfest upgrade. Rumba Rapids has become the Oompah Rapids with a catchy soundtrack. Many of the other rides also received themed soundtracks and voiceovers including Stealth and Detonator.

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our couple of visits to the park during the event, where we managed to experience rides with minimal queues, vibing to the updated soundtracks, and even some night rides on the late Saturday openings. The various shows, bands and roaming actors brought endless fun and atmosphere to our visits. Our highlight was definitely the Thrill Collins band with their unique arrangement and variety of genres.

The Oktoberfest event entertainment at Thorpe Park is included with theme park entry, and runs daily with varying opening hours from 3rd September to 3rd October 2021.
