Tivoli Gardens 2022 Review

Tivoli Gardens is an amusement park in Denmark, located very easily from Copenhagen Airport. Being the third oldest theme park in the world, Tivoli Gardens has a special place in many locals’ hearts, along with it being a key tourist attraction for the capital city.

Our journey took us flying from the UK to Copenhagen Airport early Saturday morning. Once landed, signs in the airport easily take you to the trains & metro service. A service to Copenhagen Central is a few stops away and is reasonably priced. Costing around £4, we got a single ticket from a ticket machine. When you arrive into Copenhagen Central, Tivoli Gardens entrance is just around the corner, with the side entrance being visible as soon as you exit the station.

To enter Tivoli Gardens, there are multiple ticket options depending on the nature of your visit. One ticket you must purchase is an entry ticket. This ticket is required to enter the grounds of Tivoli Gardens and costs around £17 / 145 in Danish Krone. From here, you can purchase a ride wristband if you wish to do the rides and attractions during your visit. You can select the mini ride pass for around £17.50 / 149 in Danish Krone or for all the rides it would cost around £29 / 245 in Danish Krone. If you fancy other additional benefits, then the ride plus option gives you Villa Vendetta (the park’s Haunted House), unlimited ride photos on your phone, one digital photo in the photo studio and one free spin on the chocolate wheel or grand prix game. This does cost around £35 / 295 in Danish Krone. There are packages also which can combine the ride pass, food, beverages and entrance together.

Rutschebanen (The Roller Coaster) is one of the oldest operating wooden coasters in the world. This classic still features the onboard brakeman who controls the speed of the ride to keep it safe and enjoyable. Opening all the way back in 1914 it has been thrilling guests ever since.  We love the additional theming this rollercoaster has with a ‘mountain’ backdrop and a couple of indoor sections. The rollercoaster is equal parts thrilling as it is fun, and it’s nice to see the park allow the rides legacy to continue on for more generations to enjoy.

Dæmonen (The Demon) is the park’s headline attraction, opening in 2004, it is a B&M Floorless rollercoaster which fits right into their Chinese themed area.. It may only stand at less than 100ft tall, but it fits almost 2000ft of track into its compact layout, including three inversions, most notably the vertical loop. The floorless trains add another dimension to the ride allowing your feet to dangle right above the track. A nice surprise from the ride was the lighting package it featured after dark, with thousands of lights running along the whole length of the track, we watched in awe as it changed colour from red to white, as the train passed by!

Some of the stand out attractions at Tivoli Gardens would include Tik Tak, an insane spinning attraction which rocks and spins you in many different ways. With a space theme and several cogwork themed pieces to the ride, it certainly gives an impressive look for guests to watch, let alone experience. The fun house was another surprise, including many moving stairs, slides and spinners inside a dimly lit building which you wouldn’t find in the UK! Minen was a unique water ride, as it combines a water ride with the dark ride style shooter game. Whilst simplistic in style, it was different to see and was a fun addition.

Villa Vendatta was the park’s scary house and this opened later on in the day. It was an upcharge on some ticket options, so make sure you have a ticket for this separately or the ride plus wristband. In small groups, you entered a typical Haunted House which included actors who could touch you. It provided more scares than we thought as well as being amazingly themed throughout. This was a huge highlight to our visit and would recommend trying this out during your visit!

The benefits of the ride plus package was a cool addition to our day. Being able to play for free one of the park’s chance games, it was nice to do with the group. We tried the chocolate wheel and were so close to winning! The unlimited ride photos to your phone was really good too. You needed the Tivoli phone app, then by scanning a QR code on your photo at the exit of the rides or getting a receipt, allowed you to put it onto the app. It was instant and easy to set up and use.

The atmosphere in the park was relaxed yet had a fair amount to keep you busy and interested throughout. There was a lack of music we noted however, with it being the opening weekend of our visit, we are sure this changes depending when you do go. They have plenty of shows and special events that happen all the time, with music artists such as 50 cent visiting during the summer. We noted a fireworks display happens also on Saturday evenings later in the season. The park was open until midnight which leaves more than enough time to ride everything, and re ride anything you wish to without having to rush about.  During the night, the park does come alive in pretty lights. It really transforms the park, adding another layer of beauty to an already incredible landscape.

Overall, Tivoli Gardens is a fantastic amusement park that offers some thrilling experiences with The Demon and Villa Vendetta, but also offers a relaxed and chilled vibe for those who want it. A must visit when you go to Copenhagen!

We loved working with Tivoli Gardens during this visit and in sponsorship, they offered us two multi ride passes. We look forward to revisiting in the future and if you’ve been or look to go, let us know over on our socials!
