Tulley’s Shocktober Fest returns in 2022 for its 26th year of screams. This year it includes 10 Halloween mazes, Circus of Screams, plus a new stage amongst many other changes across the whole event. We say goodbye to Twisted Screams as it retires, but hello to Electrick Circus with Sparky, the new Clown in town! Also new for 2022 is Doom Town, an 80s video classic zombie realm that you become trapped within. 

As one of Europe’s largest scream parks, Tulley’s push the boundaries year on year with immersive scenery, live actors and many special effects. With the tagline #WeDareYou, prepare for a night you won’t forget in a hurry. Open for 25 nights, Shocktober Fest caters for all your Halloween needs with several ticket options and a variety of entertainment offerings. Open from 5/6pm until 11:30, you have plenty to get completed in this time.

You can select a street pass ticket which gains you entry into the event to enjoy the entertainment but not the mazes or attractions. If you’re after the standard ticket, the Xscream Pass now gives you unlimited maze entry all night alongside access to the rest of the event, being the most popular ticket. You can get a 6 or 11 fastrack bundle too, allowing you to choose where to use your fastrack. For guests after the best night, the RIP bundle gives you a package of unlimited fastrack, food and drink vouchers, merchandise vouchers and more. It’s great to see the event in more recent years allowing you to choose your night with unlimited mazes and optional fastrack, so you can structure your night how you wish! 

Doom Town – New for 2022

Doom Town is an incredible new attraction for 2022! Situated just beside Wastelands Penitentiary, this haunt brings the theming game to a whole new scale. From the moment you enter the queue, you can see the effort put into the level of detail in every corner. Instead of fences or rope, they used tombstones to design the queueline. The high quality continues within the attraction, designing a whole tarmac street with multiple themed buildings along the way. From an old pub, to a run down cinema and even a fruit and veg shop with… some very out of date produce (yes real produce!) With so many realistic theming pieces along the street and buildings, actors had so many hiding spots to choose from to get the best impact scares. With an eerie atmosphere, a funky soundtrack and many different themed rooms, Doom Town is a strong contender as one of the best Halloween mazes and takes the bar of immersive attractions to a whole new level. You won’t experience a maze like Doom Town this year! 

Haunted Hayride

Haunted Hayride is one of the few remaining hayride attractions in the UK and year on year it is still a top attraction at the event. Always with minor character and scene changes, the slow tractor ride takes you around several Movie sets as the cast of these scenes come to life and hop aboard the trailer. More comedy than scary, it has a range of inhabitants within that will make your journey unforgettable. We must say thank you to Tulley’s for keeping our favourite scene in the attractions being the nuns, who may or may not like a bit of Beyonce outside of bible practice! The Haunted Hayride isn’t to be missed on your visit to the Scream Park under no exception.

The CHop Shop

The Chop Shop always makes us scream every year. Fancy endless walls and corridors filled with chainsaw wielding maniacs, throwing their chainsaws and energy at you again, and again, and again. Starting with a range of themed rooms to set the story and allowing the family to lead us into a false sense of security, this maze goes from 0 to 100 very quickly. We screamed for what felt like an eternity and one of us even had a very fast paced heart upon exiting the attraction! We would highly recommend this haunt after a few other mazes so you can be prepared for the intense horrors within. 

Remaining mazes…

The last 4 mazes were our lowest rated attractions from the event. Starting off with our lowest rated attraction, Hell-Ements, which for us isn’t a scary or well themed attraction. As the majority of the attraction is hooded, special effects and actors sounds are what is relied upon. Whilst sometimes effective and decent at points, it felt lighter than in previous years and we could see through the hoods. 

The Creepy Cottage is the oldest returning haunt and remains pretty unchanged year upon year. We felt the quality of acting had been stepped up however, very minimal scares for us. Whilst a great starting attraction, we do think it is overdue a big upgrade! 

The Cellar remains a strong middle attraction for the park and amongst many scare mazes. The scores for us have dipped a little since last year but very minimally. It has many greatly detailed scenes amongst the heavy strobe sections and the actors are always feisty.

The last maze being Coven of 13, which always is visually impressive with the range of different eerie segments and demonic characters. We did get a fair few jumps and really appreciated the attraction this year, after seeing so many other mazes beforehand and how Coven of 13 compares.
