UK's SCARIEST WATERSLIDES

Waterslides are thrilling and fun as they get more daring and different. In the UK, we now have a range of flumes which offer a lot of emotions as plummet through them. Today, we talk through what we believe are the Top 5 scariest waterslides in the UK!

DEVILS DROP – SPLASHDOWN QUAYWEST

Splashdown Quaywest is in the south of England in Torquay. This waterpark is the largest outdoors waterpark in the UK and therefore was always going to be home to some scary slides! Devils Drop takes you on a 65ft plunge as one of the fastest and highest flumes in the UK. Whilst a short experience, the near vertical drop can catch your breathe in more ways than one.

Thunderbolt (Waterworld)

Thunderbolt is home at a waterpark in the Midlands of the UK, near Stoke on Trent. Whilst the waterpark has been open for many decades, Thunderbolt was only introduced in 2019 as 1 of 4 new slides in a refurbishment package for their 30th anniversary.  It’s the first UK trap door slide which means the floor drops underneath you before you rush through an exhilarating track at speeds of up to 25mph. It certainly makes it into our top 5 of scary slides!

Cannonball (Coral Reef)

Coral Reef is a local waterpark in Bracknell. Whilst being open for more than 25 years, it had a huge refurbishment back in 2016 and reopened with a number of new slides. One of these being Cannonball, a short but fast body slide for the ultimate thrill seekers. Being 67 meters long, some guests can travel down it in just a few seconds, which is some serious speed! Definitely one to check out if you haven’t already.

Tropical Cyclone (Center Parcs)

Tropical Cyclone has made a name for itself at various Center Parcs locations over the years. Home in 4 of the 5 locations, Tropical Cyclone is a 4 person raft slide which has a huge drop into a crater that offers a gravity defying experience. Some of these have unique projection mapping overlays to them whilst others are traditional, with slight variations to the layout. Either way, it’s something to experience for all water slide lovers!

The Sidewinder (Sandcastle Blackpool)

Located in the North West of the UK in Blackpool, The Sidewinder can be found at Sandcastle Waterpark. Being one of 18 waterslides here, there is plenty of competition for this to stand out. For single or dual riders, you hop on a raft and go down a near vertical drop into a half pipe style slide. Being one of the first white knuckle waterslides in the UK, it still stands out today across the country! If you are lucky, you might even get to go down backwards…
