Fear Island V has introduced 4 brand new mazes, some with new overlays and some with a new theme. This includes the return of Psycho Vault but as Death Games, The Haunting 2: Under Investigation which is now a kids maze, Killer Villa which is a new overlay on The House of Voodoo & finally, Hellhole which is brand new where DisturbIAM used to be. We also see a new family show called The Pirates of Fear Island and the return of the Circus of Screams!

The shows at Fear Island are usually great value for money, with The Circus of Screams costing £6 and the other show being free. The Pirates of Fear Island was an interactive pirate themed show and included 3 actors on a small stage setup in the upper levels of the pyramid. This is perfect for younger audiences as they are encouraged to participate and it seems to be much loved by all. We didn’t get to experience the Circus of Screams this year but from previous years, it’s a great multi-act circus which has surprises year upon year. We do miss that the mountain show has disappeared this year however, with construction happening for the new attractions, we are sure to see it return in the future!

The mazes at Fear Island do have opening times and closing times, with some of them not being open all day. We recommend checking the website and also on the day of arrival, as sometimes they may need to change. 

KIller Villa

“Venture beyond the misty bayou and into the murderous mansion of serial killer Delphine La Laurie, in an extended version of The House of Voodoo with all-new chambers of torment. Can you evade the clutches of the New Orleans murderess and escape her Killer Villa?

Killer Villa is a new overlay to The House of Voodoo maze which has previously hosted within this attraction. This version of the attraction wasn’t too scary compared to some previous versions, with a lot more theatrical pieces explaining the story and less jump based scares, although the ending did provide some great jump moments. The theming was pretty much the same with some minor changes we felt, and the storyline had some adjustments to keep with the theme. The actors were great theatrical actors but we felt the jump scares they provided could have been better, as previously seen. Whilst not the strongest year for Killer Villa, it was still fun to experience. 

Scare: 4/10 – Themeing & Storyline: 6/10 – Actors: 6/10 – Overall: 16/30

Psycho Vault: Death Games

Psycho Vault has returned with the new story of Death Games. As one of the original attractions at Fear Island, we were excited to see this overlay to the Psycho Vault story. Psycho Vault actually is set up in a new location in an unused warehouse building, close to the market & Killer Villa. The scares were pretty much on par with Killer Villa, with them being very clever and quite jumpy. With a mixture of story scenes and scare scenes, this was one of our favourite renditions of the Psycho Vault story. The ending was pretty scary too and fitted perfectly with the story of Death Games! A must do maze at Fear Island this year for sure.
